Fashion & Politics: Meet: Zalando Collection

Ik vermoed dat iedereen Zalando ondertussen wel kent? De online webshop van het bekende - en inderdaad erg aanstekelijke - reclamefilmpje op televisie. Voor wie niet op de planeet aarde woont, hier de UK-versie nog eens.

I guess everyone is familiar with Zalando? The online webshop from the famous - and indeed very catchy - television commercial. For those who are not from this world, here's the UK-version of it.

Ik moet eerlijk toegeven dat ik niet van dag één Zalando-fan was. De look van de website was gewoon nog niet helemaal op punt, het deed me wat denken aan bol.com - wellicht door het overdadig kleurengebruik en de eindeloos flikkerende banners. Er is wel enorm veel aan gesleuteld heb ik de indruk, al is er nog wel wat werk aan de (schoenen)winkel.

I have to admit that it wasn't quite love at first sight with Zalando and me. The look of the website just wasn't thát yet and it reminded me somehow of bol.com - probably because of the excessive usage of colors and the non-stop flashiness of the banners. They have been working on it, that's for sure, but they still have quite some finishing up to do.

Maar... er is een maar. Helemaal bovenaan mijn lijstje van favoriete blogs - en dan vooral als het op outfits aankomt - staat www.kayture.com. De stijl van Kristina is zo vlekkeloos dat je er soms haast stil van wordt. Bij het zien van onderstaande look, scrolde ik meteen naar beneden om te ontdekken waar ze de schoenen vandaan had gehaald. En ze dragen het 'Zalando Collection' - label.

But... there is a but. At the top of my favourite blog-list - especially when it comes to outfits - is www.kayture.com. Kristina's style is so damn flawless that you can hardly breath while looking at it. When I saw the look beneath, I immediately wanted to know where she got the shoes from. And they are from the 'Zalando Collection', indeed.

Zalando Collection is het huismerk van de shop, een beetje zoals ASOS ook haar eigen online label heeft. En er zitten echt zalige stuks tussen, niet eens voor veel geld. Nu begin ik de fuss in het reclamespotje toch wel een beetje te begrijpen.

Zalando Collection is the house brand of the shop, a bit like ASOS has its own online label as well. And they really sell great things, without asking tons of money in return. Now I'm starting to get the fuss the commercial was all about.
